Obama at the Bat

May 17th, 2012

Reading the title “Obama at the Bat” I expected a grudge match between him and Hillary so I was just a wee bit disappointed.. A fun spin on Casey at the Bat.

Java drinkers live longer

May 17th, 2012

Nice, looks like I’m going to live forever!. Or, 16% longer than you tea drinkers….

Thanks Frank Herbert…

May 17th, 2012

Now every time I read a news story about Fannie Mae I immediately think of the Caleban rather than the financial institution. I don’t suppose that in 1970 Herbert knew just how infamous the name would become – or did he?

LightSquared

May 15th, 2012

If you’re not familiar with LightSquared it’s time to make yourself aware.

From the big picture seat it’s a story to make even John LaCarre proud.

California Teenagers Take Global Warming

May 11th, 2012

Apparently California is doing a find job terrorizing their children to the point kids are filing lawsuits trying to force the government to “do something” about Global Warming.

I have to point out that not one single proposal put forth by the Global Warming crowd will have any effect whatsoever – and that’s by their own admission. So what exactly do these “activists” really want other than publicity?

It is bad timing for the kids filing the lawsuit to be exposed as 47th in the nation for scores in science. Some might consider these 2 stories unrelated but they’re very related. There is a reason education has gone to Hades in this country – because an educated population cannot be easily hoodwinked.

The Approaching Danger

May 9th, 2012

“At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”

Drugmakers’ Deal to Be Probed

May 4th, 2012

I’m sure many have forgotten that one of the big points of contention in the now infamous “Hillarycare” was how BigPharma played a key role. Flash foward better than a decade and it looks like things haven’t changed much.

‘Gaia’ Scientist James Lovelock: I was ‘alarmist’ about climate change

April 25th, 2012

Yet another global warming alarmist admitting I was ‘alarmist’ about climate change. Choice quotes that really say it all…

“The problem is we don’t know what the climate is doing. We thought we knew 20 years ago. That led to some alarmist books – mine included – because it looked clear-cut, but it hasn’t happened,” Lovelock said.
“The climate is doing its usual tricks. There’s nothing much really happening yet. We were supposed to be halfway toward a frying world now,” he said.
“The world has not warmed up very much since the millennium. Twelve years is a reasonable time… it (the temperature) has stayed almost constant, whereas it should have been rising — carbon dioxide is rising, no question about that,” he added.

Google Drive

April 24th, 2012

I use Box.net and DropBox each for different purposes. Now Google has launched Google Drive and I’m excited to get in and see if it will shift my use from either of the other services, or find it’s own niche in my kit.

Good Moral Character

April 24th, 2012

“[A] good moral character is the first essential in a man, and that the habits contracted at your age are generally indelible, and your conduct here may stamp your character through life. It is therefore highly important that you should endeavor not only to be learned but virtuous.”
